Living in a 3-bedroom detached bungalow in the urban area of Hungerford in Berkshire, Mr Brittain was looking to make his property more environmental by powering his home with renewable energy.

After finding out about Hero Renewables through the Green Business Watch, Mr Brittain got in touch with our team to ask all of his renewable questions he had about the products we offer, including how the system’s run and the amount of spaced need for each product.

After speaking to Mr Brittain on the phone, he wanted to book in a site survey on his property so that we could access which products would best suit his home, initially our team thought that an that a 9kW air source heat pump would be a good fit for the home with a series of Solar panel on the roof as his EPC rating at the time was at the low end of the spectrum. But after visiting the property, Mr Brittain project manager proposed that an 8.5kW air source heat pump combined with 3.6kW solar PV system and state of the art radiators throughout the property would be more beneficial for the home due to the home’s heating and energy demands and measurement taken from the renewable expert.

Mr Brittain agreed that the combination of a air source heat pump with a PV system would be great for the home. Our engineers went forward with the installation and installed an 8.5kW Mitsubishi Ecodan heat pump with a pre-plumbed 250-litre hot water cylinder and buffer tank on the 14th of November 2018.

Additionally, our team installed a 12 panel JA smart module 300W SK Percium Mono photovoltaic system on the same day, including a SolarEdge 3,680W phase-one inverter with built-in WI-FI.

Having both the heat pump and Solar PV system in his home, it meant that Mr Brittain was able to run his property thought the use of renewable energy. This was proven through his new EPC rating which was taken 3 months after our team installed and commissioned his system. Within his new EPC rating, Mr Brittain went from being at the bottom of the efficiency spectrum and jumped above the average rating of a D to up a C.
