A Ground Source Heat Pump is the most efficient way to heat and provide hot water to your property.
Heat is collected from the ground using a series of pipes containing water and an antifreeze solution called Glycol, of course, the process has to be supervised by the team at https://www.aceplumbersworcester.co.uk/. These pipes absorb the heat stored in the ground (which is usually at about 10˚C). There are a number of options for these pipes, they can be laid in trenches about 1.2 Metres down in the ground, laid vertically in a borehole drilled down, typically to 50 Metres, or even laid in water.
The heat collected by these pipes is pumped back to the Ground Source Heat Pump unit and used to boil a refrigerant and turn it into a vapour. This vapour is then compressed which brings it’s temperature up to around 100˚C.
The heat from this vapour is finally passed through a heat exchanger in your hot water cylinder which heats up the water to power your central heating and water supply.

With the correct amount of insulation, whilst paired with underfloor heating or oversized radiators, a ground source heat pump will provide you with affordable, sustainable comfort, all year around.

Not only will Ground Source Heat Pumps save you money on your monthly utility bills, they can yield a unique return on investment unlike any other. For investing in a Ground Source Heat Pump, you will be able to claim Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) payments that last 7 years in a domestic dwelling, or 20 years for a commercial, public or industrial premises. Set up by the UK Government to subsidise homeowners and businesses who are looking to cut their carbon emissions, the domestic RHI for Ground Source Heat Pumps currently pays 19.55p/kWh and the commercial tariff 8.95p/kWh for Tier 1 (first 1,314 hours) and 2.67p/kWh for the remaining period. As of April 2017, the Domestic RHI payments for Ground Source Heat Pumps will be capped at 30,000 kWh.
Because the only emissions created by a Ground Source Heat Pump are the electric required to power the compressor, you can save a whole lot of carbon when compared to burning natural gas or oil.
