Extinction Rebellion continues campaign for Climate Change Action

Extinction rebellion has entered its second week of its disruption campaign in London in order for their voices to be heard, as they demand action to combat climate change. The two-week action in London is just one of many global efforts to highlight and demand change.

Driven by the continued lack of government leadership on climate change the Extinction Rebellion first launched in 2018 and has grown its ranks since then, it is estimated that around 25,000 people have joined since the first protest back in November 2018. *1 *2

The core demands of Extinction Rebellion are for the government to tell the truth about the scale of the ecological crisis, to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2025 and finally, demand the government to create a citizens assembly to hear evidence and devise policy to take on the crisis that is climate change. Protesters have been disrupting key routes and locations across the city of London, by creating roadblocks and chaining themselves together to block routes.

Hero Renewables, agrees that government action is required and that change must happen before it is too late. Whilst we cannot condone any violence when it occurs, we fully support the Extinction Rebellions right to peaceful protest. The key message is that individuals can be the change to reduce carbon emissions.

We pride ourselves on installing award-winning renewable products that help individuals and groups to make a substantial change to their own carbon emissions. An Air or Ground source heat pump can decrease a homes carbon footprint by half compared to fossil fuel.*3.

Carbon Footprint Estimates For (Non)Electric Heating Technologies

Technology Carbon Footprint Range (gCO2eqkWh)
Oil Boilers 310 – 550
Gas Boilers 210 – 380
Air Source Heat Pump 90 – 250
Ground Source Heat Pump 70 – 190

These reliable and modern heat pumps enable a home to generate its own heating and hot water whilst maintaining a green footprint.
