04 Oct The 2025 Gas ban is set to be accelerated
Earlier this year we brought you news that Gas was to be banned in new build homes from 2025. However, news from the conservative party conference indicates that the ban will come into effect from next year instead.
Ministers are expected to fast track the deadline outlawing Gas and fossil fuel central heating systems much earlier than the previously set 2025. This key change is one of many proposals marking Boris Johnson’s Government commitment to protecting the environment.
An additional £1 billion of Government investment is also being allocated to encourage the mass production of electric cars and a pledge to plant one million trees.
Business Secretary Andrea Leadsom said,” Addressing climate change is a top priority for the Conservative Party, and today’s announcements will not only help us reach our Net Zero 2050 target but will benefit communities and households”.
The Gas boiler ban in new homes comes under an updated “Future Homes Standard”, which aims to reduce carbon emissions by 78% by 2025.
Housing secretary Robert Jenrick said ,” I am introducing a Future Homes Standard which ensures that no new home is built form 2025 without the best levels of energy efficiency and low or zero carbon heating and because I want to lead the world in this area, I am implementing the first steps on this revolutionary road as early as next year’.
Is this the latest attempt to silence climate change campaigners who continue to grow in numbers, due to the lack of inaction taken to fight climate change? Hero Renewables will continue to campaign and apply pressure for reform and change. As we have said before, actions speak louder than words and we will believe it when we see it!
