What did you do on Monday? Did you miss it? On Monday 29thJuly 2019, it became official, we have officially used more nature than the planet can renew this year.

This annual event has been going since 2006 and is hosted and calculated by Global Footprint Network. Earth Overshoot day marks the date when humanity’s demand for resources and services in a given year exceed what the earth can regenerate in that year.

For context this year, the United Kingdom’s individual Overshoot day was May 17th. So here we are just over 2 months later, and the earth has passed the point of no return and used more resources then it can generate within the year.

Earth Overshoot day continues to be marked earlier and earlier each year, with last year’s falling on the 1stAugust. This is a worrying sign of the times, until Climate changed is truly actioned, acknowledged and is more than just a soundbite for politicians this will become worse.

The earth requires its global citizens to take note and invest in Renewable technology, so we can all contribute to our Children’s future and the future of our planet. At Hero Renewables we are proud to be leading the UK’s transition to a Green Economy. Act now and play your part generating your future guilt free.
